Tanasi Review (2026): The 1:1 CBD+CBDA Brand, Tested Against Its Own Claims

Tanasi is a small Tennessee hemp brand with one idea and seven products. The idea is CBDA — cannabidiolic acid, the raw acidic form of CBD that exists in the living plant and converts to CBD the moment heat is applied. Almost every CBD product on the market contains little or none of it. Tanasi deliberately preserves both, in an equal 1:1 ratio, and holds a US patent on the composition.

The formula came out of a research partnership with a Tennessee university, funded by a $2.5 million grant. That origin story is the brand’s entire marketing position, and it is a genuinely unusual one in a category full of white-label gummies.

So does the science hold up, and is the range worth buying? Our answer is a qualified yes on the products and a firm "not proven" on the claims — with the best returns policy of any brand we have reviewed this year making the risk of finding out unusually low.

The Short Verdict

Tanasi is worth trying if the CBDA proposition interests you and you are tired of buying the same broad-spectrum gummy under a different label. Nobody else on this site sells a 1:1 CBD to CBDA formula, and it runs through every product they make.

It is not the brand for you if you want variety. The entire catalogue is seven products — two tinctures, softgels, gummies, a salve, a lotion and an omega-3 softgel. There is no flower, no vape, no pet range and no drinks.

The single strongest reason to try it is the returns policy: 30 days, full refund on the unused portion or even an empty container, with Tanasi paying return shipping. That is close to risk-free, and it is far better than the 14-day sealed-only policies common in this category.

What CBDA Actually Is

In a living hemp plant, cannabinoids exist in acidic forms — CBDA, THCA, CBGA. Applying heat converts them to the neutral forms most people know: CBD, THC, CBG. That conversion, called decarboxylation, happens during most extraction processes, which is why the overwhelming majority of CBD products contain essentially no CBDA.

Tanasi’s position is that keeping equal parts of the acidic and neutral forms produces a more consistent product than CBD alone. Their January 2026 announcement cites preclinical research in which an equimolar CBD+CBDA composition showed greater biological activity than CBD by itself.

We want to be straight about the evidence here. Tanasi does not name the study or the journal in that announcement, and the company’s own release states that patents protect intellectual property, not safety or efficacy. A patent means the composition is novel and non-obvious. It does not mean it works better. Treat CBDA as an interesting and under-explored cannabinoid rather than a proven upgrade.

What we can and cannot say

We can say Tanasi sells a genuinely unusual formulation that no other brand on this site offers. We cannot say it outperforms conventional CBD, because the research supporting that claim is not published in a form anyone can check.

The Full Tanasi Range

Seven products, all built on the same formula. Prices below are what we observed in August 2026; Tanasi runs frequent sales and a standing 25% subscription discount.

Our Three Picks

Best Overall

2400mg Tincture

The reference product. 80mg per millilitre, complete potency disclosure, and the purest expression of the CBDA formula. Read the review.

Best Value

600mg Salve

$27.99, and the only Tanasi product that publishes both size and total cannabinoids so you can actually calculate concentration. Read the review.

Easiest to Take

CBD+CBDA Softgels

Three strengths from 10mg to 50mg, from $21.99, and no hemp taste to get past. Read the review.

Where the Labelling Falls Down

For a brand that leans this hard on scientific credibility, Tanasi’s product pages are surprisingly incomplete. Three of the seven products omit a number you need in order to judge value.

The gummies do not state how many come in a container or the total milligrams. The softgels do not state the count per bottle. The lotion does not state its volume, which makes it impossible to work out concentration. Even the flagship tincture never says how big the bottle is — 2,400mg at 80mg per millilitre implies 30ml, but the brand does not confirm it.

The salve is the honourable exception: 600mg in a 2oz jar, stated plainly, which is roughly 10mg per gram. It is the only Tanasi product you can benchmark against a competitor without asking customer service first.

What Tanasi discloses well

  • Milligrams per millilitre on both tinctures
  • Milligrams per softgel and per gummy
  • The 1:1 ratio and the patent number
  • Certificate of Analysis section on every product page
  • Full shipping and returns terms

What is missing

  • Gummy count and total milligrams per container
  • Softgel count per bottle
  • Lotion volume — so concentration cannot be calculated
  • Tincture bottle volume
  • The name of the third-party testing laboratory
  • Any star ratings — the review widget loads by JavaScript and shows nothing in the page source

The Returns Policy Is the Real Selling Point

Tanasi offers a 30-day, 100% satisfaction guarantee, and the terms are unusually generous: you can return the unused portion, or even the empty container, Tanasi pays the return shipping, and refunds are issued around three business days after inspection.

Compare that to Soul, where returns are unopened and sealed only within 14 days at your own shipping cost, and the difference is stark. It means you can buy a Tanasi tincture, use the whole bottle over a month, decide it did nothing for you, and get your money back.

Practically, that changes how you should approach the brand. The usual advice — buy the cheapest thing first to limit your downside — does not apply. Buy the product you actually want, because the downside is already covered.

Free shipping threshold

Shipping is free on orders over $75, by USPS within the United States including PO Boxes and APO/FPO addresses. Orders placed before 3pm Central on weekdays ship the same business day.

Discounts

Tanasi publishes no alphanumeric promo code anywhere on its site. What it does offer is a standing 25% off for subscriptions, 25% off a first order, free shipping over $75, and a rewards programme worth one point per dollar with 100 points credited at signup.

There is also a referral programme: your friend gets 20% off and you earn 250 points. Full details on our Tanasi coupon page.

Who Should Buy Tanasi

Buy Tanasi if

  • You want a formulation nobody else sells
  • You want to be able to return an empty bottle for a refund
  • You take a consistent daily dose and want concentrated tinctures
  • You are drug tested and want a THC-free product

Look elsewhere if

  • You want flower, vapes, drinks or pet products
  • You want to compare cost per dose before buying
  • You want independently published research behind the claims
  • You want flavour options beyond two gummy varieties

How Tanasi Compares

On breadth, it is not close — CBDfx sells more in one category than Tanasi does in total. On lab transparency, CBD American Shaman publishes dated batch reports openly, which Tanasi does not.

What Tanasi has that neither offers is the CBDA formulation and a returns policy that genuinely removes the risk of trying it. If you have already worked your way through the mainstream brands and want something different, this is the one to try next. Our best CBD oil guide puts it in context against the wider market.

Tanasi FAQ

What is CBDA?

CBDA, cannabidiolic acid, is the raw acidic precursor to CBD found in the living hemp plant. Heat converts CBDA into CBD, so most CBD products contain little or none. Tanasi deliberately preserves both forms in an equal ratio.

Does the 1:1 ratio actually work better than CBD alone?

Tanasi cites preclinical research suggesting an equimolar CBD+CBDA composition had greater biological activity than CBD alone, but does not name the study or journal. The company itself notes that patents protect intellectual property, not safety or efficacy. Treat it as promising rather than proven.

Will Tanasi make me high or fail a drug test?

Tanasi markets its products as THC-free and non-intoxicating, and states lab testing confirms no detectable THC or THCA. It does not publish a drug-test guarantee, so we will not promise one.

What is the return policy?

A 30-day, 100% satisfaction guarantee. You can return the unused portion or the empty container, Tanasi covers return shipping, and refunds are issued around three business days after inspection.

How many products does Tanasi sell?

Seven in total: two tinctures, softgels, omega-3 softgels, gummies, a salve and a lotion. There is no flower, vape, drink or pet range.

Which Tanasi product should I start with?

The 2400mg tincture if you want the formula at full strength, the 600mg salve at $27.99 if you want the cheapest entry, or the softgels if you dislike the taste of hemp oil.

Is shipping free?

On orders over $75, by USPS within the United States including PO Boxes and APO/FPO. Orders placed before 3pm Central on weekdays ship the same business day.
